SPIDER VEINS

Spider veins are small dilated blood vessels on the surface of the skin, appearing red, blue, or purple.

They are most common on the thighs, calves, ankles, or face and are typically caused by genetics, pregnancy, hormones, weight gain, or prolonged standing or sitting. While primarily a cosmetic concern due to skin discoloration, spider veins can also present with symptoms of aching, itching, burning, or other discomfort that can increase with lengthy periods of standing.

Treating spider veins at the Vein Center in a timely fashion can prevent them from worsening. Our physicians use sclerotherapy, a quick and generally painless procedure, wherein they inject a solution into the spider vein(s), which closes them.

At the Vein Center, you aren’t just treated by a nurse or family M.D. Our physicians are board certified in both general surgery and vascular surgery, which means our patients can trust that their vein health is in the very best hands.
